Pit Bull Terrier - Medium - Adult - Female - Dog - Shayla
* { font:inherit; } UPDATE: We've added new pictures of Shayla with her new little friend Jordyn, the family cat and her with her ball. Jordyn is the beautiful 2 year old grand-daughter of Wesley Jenson who is the owner and operatorof Arrowwood Shepherds Training where Shayla is currently being housed. Shayla has also spent time with the family cat while the cat rubs all over her. Now all she needs is a life-long new family of her own to go home with. Wesley sent me a note saying hetotally trusts herwith his granddaughter, cats and the other dogs!Meet Shayla who is a red-nose Pit Bull, about 3 years old. Shayla was adopted from us just over a year ago and has been returned. Just before she was returned she became lost and was missing for two weeks. Fending for herself to survive, traveling many miles across several busy roads, through briers and stickers. When Shayla was finally found she had lost weight, had raw paw pads, abrasions all over her and was infested with ticks. As a precaution her adoptive owner had her started on the antibiotic Doxyiciline which is very strong. During this time we are told by the owner that Shayla started showing signs of aggression toward her, she was advised to discontinue the Doxy because it sometimes does cause that problem. According to the owner the meds were stopped but now she was afraid of Shayla. In speaking with the owner's close friend, who took Shayla home for a weekend to see what problems were there, she found none. Training is a requirement when adopting from us so that adopters know how to handle their dog in all situations. That training requirement was never fulfilled by the adopter, and she refused to seek the help of a free trainer she was referred to. Shayla came back to us and is currently living in house with that trainer for additional evaluation. There has been no signs of aggression at all from Shayla. She has been there long enough to settle in, get past her ordeal of being lost, hungry and sore, and is awaiting her new FOREVER home where a new puppy being added to the family will not cause her to become homeless again as it did in her last home.
