Here at Yoshi’s Safe Haven, we foster/rescue all types of small pet parrots and birds in need of someone to care for them . What motivates us? The love of taking care of an unwanted parrot or small bird that deserves a better life than the current owner can give

. Sometimes people need to rehome their bird because they bought it without understanding how much time and care the bird needs. Others need to rehome their birds because of allergies or other health problems. Still others that find that their life circumstances have changed and they no longer have the time to give to the bird, or they are unable to take the bird when moving to a new home. In these cases, Yoshi’s Safe Haven is a good option. Yoshi’s provides a safe environment for the avian pet that needs a new home, regardless of the reasons that have prompted its’ owner to give it up .

Yoshi’s Safe Haven is not the last stop for most of the birds surrendered to us. All of our birds are seen by an avian vet, and are vaccinated for psittimune Apv avian polymavirus. Also, birds surrendered to us are evaluated for behavior and should behavior issues be found, we work with the birds to rehabilitate them to the point that they will make good pets. After this, we seek to adopt out our birds to forever homes, to people who demonstrate the ability to provide for the specific needs of a bird. Obviously, adoption is not possible for all birds placed in our care, since some have come from such abusive environments that they will always need the structured environment Yoshi’s Safe Haven provides.
Please remember, birds have feelings and very special needs. If you know deep down that you really ought to give your bird up to provide a better home for it, don’t wait. Do your homework; not every animal shelter is equipped to deal with parrots and small birds. In addition to Yoshi’s there are some good bird sanctuary/ rescues.
Don’t not to trust your bird to brokers, hoarders or bunchers. A breeder is not a bad thing as long as it is an ethical breeder with the best intentions. MANY HAVE BEEN GIVEN AWAY FREE TO THOSE WHO HAVE SIGNED CONTRACTS TO
HOME VISITS ONCE EVERY TWO WEEKS FOR THE PERIOD OF ONE YEAR
